JAMES MADISON. War of 1812-dated partly-printed document signed by, “James Madison,” as President granting a parcel of land in Steubenville, Ohio to Fielder Richardson, five months after the start of the war.
DOCUMENT SIGNED BY JAMES MADISON AS PRESIDENT FIVE MONTHS AFTER THE START OF THE WAR OF 1812
The document is one page on vellum with a fully-intact paper seal, measures 15 by 9.5 inches, signed in Washington, DC on November 17, 1812, countersigned by Commissioner of the General Land Office Edward Tiffin, and in very good condition with soiling and fading to Madison’s signature.
