Original Autographed Photo of John F. Kennedy, Signed as President
Matte-finish 8 x 10" photograph taken by famous shutterbug Alfred Eisenstaedt in August of 1960 was beautifully signed by JFK to Franklin Hall Williams early in his Presidency.
Franklin H. Williams was a lawyer and civil rights leader from Queens, NY.  Some of his notable accomplishments included being an assistant to Thurgood Marshall; was appointed regional director of the NAACP for nine Western states and Alaska/Hawaii in 1950....under his direction, the NAACP won the first successful judgment in a major case involving school desegregation and the removal of restrictive covenants on real estate in California; then proceeded to serve for two years as Assistant Attorney General for the state of California.  In 1961, Williams joined Sargent Shriver, the first head of the Peace Corps, traveling to nine countries around the world to prepare for the dispatch of American volunteers.  In 1963, he became the first Black person to be named United States representative to the Economic and Social Council; for three years, Williams was the Ambassador to Ghana......Impressive list for sure.
The photo was nicely inscribed and signed by the new President underneath his image, using a black fountain pen,"To Franklin Williams, with warm regards, John Kennedy".  The writing is immensely strong (9.5/10) in a perfect location for display.
This highly coveted artifact is in conservatively Very Good to Excellent condition, with only a few wrinkles in the upper portion keeping the signed photo from a higher grade.  I have taken a shot of the upper right area where the wrinkles reside.  The Kennedy photo has been tastefully matted and framed to a total size of 13 x 16".
